Mecast signs capacity deal with Planetsky for Iraq broadcast distribution

Cyprus, 25 september 2009 - Satellite communications provider Planetsky Ltd. announced that it signed a contract with Mecast Ltd., Iraq’s leading provider of Broadcasting and Telecommunication related services. Under the terms of the contract, Planetsky will provide and manage the space segment which allows Mecast to distribute television content to viewers throughout Iraq via a point-to-point distribution channel.

With the closing of this contract, it is the second time Mecast and Planetsky join forces. As Planetsky was providing space segment to several Kurdish TV stations, Mecast worked for Planetsky as an intermediary.  Maher Haddad, Sales Director at Planetsky stated they are very pleased with the opportunity to work with Mecast directly as they are very well-known in the Kurdish market and via the partnership they can bring high-quality broadcasting services to Iraq.
